Ms. Hala Alhamed Civ. Eng. MSc. I.W.R.M, founder of work4water
Ms. Hala Alhamed holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering of the University of Damascus and a Master in Integrated Water Resources Management (I.W.R.M) from the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany and the University of Jordan.At the moment she is working on her PhD at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the field of Integrated Urban Water Asset Management.
She has almost 15 years of working experience in water & infrastructure in Syria, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Turkey, Lebanon Jordan and Egypt and she did research for I.W.R.M projects in several African countries as Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. She has been working in water management and planning whether in academic or professional contexts in MENA region. Hala Alhamed worked in several projects funded by EU, World Bank, KfW and UNDP.
In The Hague, Netherlands Hala Alhamed founded the company Work4Water in 2016. With this company she quickly had customers such as the UNEP-DHI Partnership – Centre on Water and Environment and the International Water Association (IWA) in The Hague. She also wrote a study for the Dutch Enterprises Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemingen / RVO) on the investment opportunities for the Dutch Business Sector in the field of water reuse in Morocco. She is also a member of the Board of the International Department of the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) and she is Ambassador of Future Proof The Hague.
With Waternet (Amsterdam) and TU Delft, she studies systematic approach for public policy formulation using Multi criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and problem structuring methods (PSM). She is also member of the Dutch Middle East Experts’ Forum – Het Grote Midden Oosten Platform, where she frequently asked to do analysis on Middle East issues.
Further is she member of the Expert Group on Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus - Challenges and Opportunities for the Peace Building Phase in Syria. This is within the framework of the National Agenda for the Future of Syria II (NAFS) Programme developed and implemented by the United Nations' Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, UN ESCWA. She is founding member of the Middle East & Africa Experts’ platform for post-conflict reconstruction and engineering (meaXperts”).
